I was born, schooled and grew up in South Africa.

After a stint in in the army as a conscript I decided I wanted to be part of the 60’s call to turn on tune in and drop out and headed to the beaches of Australia. A few years later I became a naturalised Australian.

The camera I bought to record my surfing life at Noosa was always with me. During a trip back to South Africa for my Australian wife to meet my South African family, I was offered a job when one of my photos was seen by a local newspaper photographer.

One thing led to another and I ended up back in Australia eventually runnning my own Photographic Studio on the Sunshine Coast for nigh on 25 years. I specialised in Commercial and Advertising and Arts Crafts Photography but also did a lot of BW Copy and Restoration of old photos.

I also worked for the Mt Coolum Hyatt as a Conference and Event Photographer

During that time I also learned a lot about Marketing and Advertising and Graphic Design for both Print and the Web.

A health crisis and ongoing issues surrounding it mean I am now in semi-retirement and enjoy a relaxed and contemplative life with lots of time and space for my BuddhaDharma practice.

I only do paid photography every now and again  to help run a motor vehicle and to add some variety and interest to my life.

To keep my stress levels way down I now have the relative luxury of doing a small amount of the work that I like only for nice people.

Preparation and planning and good clear communication are the foundation of all photographic assignments that end up with good results in a pleasant and relaxed manner. So thats what I always do and cannot work with anyone else who is not prepared to do the same

Having said that, I like meeting and working with people and love the process of being led by my natural photographic eye to produce visually interesting images that open a clear window onto the inner dynamic of all surface appearances
